China's Foreign Ministry has strongly criticized recent remarks by EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas alleging the formation of an "autocratic alliance" between China, Russia, Iran, and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK). Spokesperson Guo Jiakun called the comments "very wrongful and irresponsible" during a Thursday press briefing, emphasizing China's commitment to international cooperation and historical preservation.
"These statements are filled with ideological bias and blatantly stoke confrontation," Guo stated, noting the timing coincided with China's commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the World Anti-Fascist War victory. Over 26 foreign heads of state and 100 diplomatic envoys attended Wednesday's events, which Guo described as demonstrating global support for "defending the post-war international order."
The spokesperson highlighted Europe's historical responsibility in World War II, urging EU leaders to abandon "Cold War mentalities" that damage international stability. "What the world needs now is solidarity, not division," Guo emphasized, pointing to China's wartime sacrifices and modern peacekeeping efforts.
Analysts suggest the exchange reflects growing tensions over competing visions of global governance. China's commemorative events, attended by representatives from 19 European nations, showcased its diplomatic outreach amid the controversy.
