Xi Jinping: China’s Historic Role in Global Peace Celebrated

Chinese President Xi Jinping underscored China's pivotal contributions to global peace during a ceremony marking the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War. Speaking at a high-profile gathering in Beijing, Xi emphasized that the conflict was a defining chapter in humanity's fight against fascism.

"Under the banner of the national united front against Japanese aggression established at the initiative of the Communist Party of China, the Chinese people stood up to fight the formidable enemy with an iron will," Xi stated. He highlighted the "huge national sacrifice" made by China, which he said safeguarded human civilization and reshaped the post-war international order.

The event drew attention to China's role as the first major battleground in the World Anti-Fascist War, with historians estimating over 35 million Chinese casualties. Xi praised the CPC-led collaboration across political factions, calling it a "great wall with flesh and blood" that secured modern China's first complete victory against foreign invasion.

Analysts view the commemoration as reinforcing China's narrative of peaceful development while honoring historical resilience. The anniversary comes amid renewed global interest in Asia's wartime history and its implications for contemporary diplomacy.
