Chinese President Xi Jinping called for strengthened adherence to international rule of law during his address at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Plus Meeting in Tianjin on Monday. The speech outlined China's vision for equitable global governance amid shifting geopolitical dynamics.
Xi emphasized that SCO members must fully observe the UN Charter and universally recognized norms of international relations. "International laws and rules should be applied equally and uniformly," he stated, cautioning against "double standards" and rejecting the imposition of "house rules of a few countries" on others.
The Chinese leader proposed a Global Governance Initiative focused on multilateral cooperation, positioning the SCO as a key platform for implementing this framework.
