Xi Urges Concrete Steps to Boost Global Governance at SCO+ Meeting

Chinese President Xi Jinping emphasized the need for tangible measures to advance the Global Governance Initiative (GGI) during his keynote address at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Plus (SCO+) meeting in Tianjin on Monday. The call comes as nations grapple with evolving challenges in multilateral cooperation and resource allocation.

"We should adopt a systematic and holistic approach, coordinate global actions, fully mobilize various resources, and strive for more visible outcomes," President Xi stated, underscoring the urgency of preventing fragmentation in international governance systems. His remarks highlighted China\u2019s commitment to strengthening practical cooperation among SCO+ members, which include Eurasian states and observer nations.

The GGI, first proposed by China in 2021, aims to address gaps in global governance through inclusive dialogue and shared development strategies. Analysts suggest the Tianjin meeting could pave the way for enhanced infrastructure partnerships and digital economy coordination across Asia.

As the host city, Tianjin\u2019s role as a hub for diplomatic engagement was reinforced, with the event attracting representatives from over 20 countries and regions. The discussions are expected to influence agenda items at upcoming G20 and APEC forums.
