China Media Group (CMG) launched its annual educational spectacle, the "First Lesson of the School Year," on Monday, blending cutting-edge technology with historical remembrance to mark the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War.
The program, themed "remembering and striving," employed AI-powered image restoration to revitalize black-and-white photos of wartime youth resistance groups, transforming them into dynamic, colorized visuals. War veterans shared firsthand accounts of their combat experiences, while immersive digital reenactments brought pivotal historical moments to life for students across the country.
By merging interactive storytelling with archival footage, CMG aims to foster a deeper connection between younger generations and China’s wartime legacy. The initiative underscores the importance of historical education in shaping national identity and inspiring youth to contribute to a peaceful future.
