60 Million Annual Visits to China’s WWII Memorials Highlight Historical Legacy

China's war of resistance against Japanese aggression remains a cornerstone of national memory, with over 60 million visitors annually flocking to historical sites and memorial facilities across the country. Sun Deli, deputy head of the National Cultural Heritage Administration, revealed Sunday that more than 500 exhibitions are held yearly to commemorate this pivotal chapter in history.

Preserving Memory, Educating Generations

Of the 96 designated national patriotic education bases, many now serve as multidisciplinary hubs for revolutionary tradition education, national defense training, and student field studies. Sun emphasized that these sites foster a 'profound connection to the spirit of resilience and unity that defined the Chinese people's struggle.'

History Meets Tourism

Eleven provincial-level regions have developed 38 specialized travel routes showcasing war relics, blending historical education with cultural tourism. This initiative aligns with growing global interest in experiential learning, particularly among younger generations and international visitors exploring Asia's 20th-century narratives.
