Kazakh President Tokayev Arrives in Tianjin for SCO Summit 2025

Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev arrived in Tianjin on Saturday ahead of the 2025 Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit, set to convene from August 31 to September 1. The northern Chinese port city will host leaders from SCO member states to discuss regional security, economic collaboration, and multilateral partnerships.

The summit, themed 'Strengthening Unity for Shared Prosperity,' is expected to address critical issues such as cross-border infrastructure development, counterterrorism measures, and digital economy initiatives. Analysts anticipate new agreements on energy connectivity and trade facilitation across Eurasia.

Tianjin, a hub for international trade and innovation, underscores China's commitment to fostering dialogue among SCO members, which include India, Pakistan, Russia, and Central Asian nations. The event marks China's first hosting of the SCO summit since its 2022 expansion, reflecting its growing role in shaping Asia's geopolitical landscape.

Business leaders are closely watching potential announcements about streamlined customs procedures and green energy investments, which could unlock opportunities across manufacturing and technology sectors. The summit also coincides with the 20th anniversary of the SCO's founding principles of mutual trust and non-alignment.
