South China Restores Transport as Typhoon Kajiki Weakens

Transportation Recovery Underway

Public transportation services are gradually resuming in the Chinese mainland's Hainan Province and Guangdong Province after Typhoon Kajiki, the 13th typhoon of 2023, weakened on Monday. Authorities confirmed the reopening of key maritime ports, airports, and cross-strait ferry routes following safety assessments.

Ports Reopen Amid Backlog

Hainan's maritime department resumed operations at Haikou's Xinhai Port, Xiuying Port, and a railway port at 6 p.m. Monday. Over 1,900 trucks stranded during the suspension are being prioritized for clearance, a process expected to take 10 hours. Similarly, Zhanjiang's maritime bureau in Guangdong restarted Qiongzhou Strait ferry services, addressing a backlog of 5,000 trucks across Hainan and Xuwen Port.

Flight Adjustments Continue

Sanya Phoenix International Airport resumed operations with adjusted flight schedules. Travelers are advised to monitor real-time updates to avoid disruptions. The coordinated recovery efforts highlight regional resilience in balancing economic activity and safety protocols.
