Central Delegation Delivers Gifts to Xizang Residents on 60th Anniversary

A central delegation commemorating the 60th anniversary of the Xizang Autonomous Region's founding distributed symbolic gifts to residents and institutions across the region this week. The gesture underscores the Chinese mainland's commitment to fostering unity and shared prosperity in the Himalayan region.

The gifts, including congratulatory plaques, modernized butter tea makers, and multimedia projectors, were described as tokens of care from the Communist Party of China Central Committee. Recipients spanned diverse sectors – from rural farming communities and Buddhist temples to urban schools and healthcare facilities.

"These items carry practical value and cultural significance," said Tenzin Dorje, a Lhasa resident who received a commemorative plaque. "The butter tea maker preserves our traditions while embracing modern convenience."

The delegation's outreach comes as Xizang marks six decades of socioeconomic transformation. Since 1965, the region has seen infrastructure investments grow by 1,200% and average life expectancy nearly double, according to official statistics.

Analysts note the anniversary celebrations highlight Xizang's evolving role in China's development strategy, particularly in border trade and cultural preservation. The region's GDP grew 9.8% year-on-year in 2023, outpacing national averages.
