Wang Yi Holds Trilateral Talks in Kabul to Boost Regional Stability

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi arrived in Kabul on Wednesday for the 6th China-Afghanistan-Pakistan Foreign Ministers' Dialogue, marking a renewed push to strengthen regional cooperation amid evolving geopolitical dynamics. The high-level meeting, attended by Afghan Acting Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi and Pakistani Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, focused on economic collaboration, security coordination, and infrastructure development.

Wang, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, emphasized Beijing's commitment to fostering 'win-win partnerships' through initiatives like the Belt and Road framework. 'Stability in Afghanistan and Pakistan is integral to Asia's collective prosperity,' he stated during opening remarks, highlighting cross-border energy projects and trade corridor plans under discussion.

The dialogue comes as Afghanistan seeks deeper regional integration following the withdrawal of foreign forces in 2021. Analysts note China's growing role as a mediator, particularly in addressing shared challenges such as counterterrorism and humanitarian aid distribution. A joint statement is expected to outline steps for enhancing trilateral connectivity and crisis management mechanisms.
