China’s AG600 Amphibious Aircraft Advances Toward Deployment

China’s second batch-produced AG600 "Kunlong" amphibious aircraft has completed a critical production test flight in Zhuhai City, Guangdong Province, signaling progress toward operational readiness. The Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC) confirmed the milestone on Sunday, highlighting the aircraft’s potential for customer delivery and deployment in roles such as firefighting, maritime rescue, and logistics.

A four-member crew conducted the AG600-1102’s test flight, performing ground taxiing, system evaluations, and high-altitude flight assessments. The aircraft demonstrated stable performance across all systems, with its control mechanisms functioning as designed. Following the successful tests, it departed for Yichang, Hubei Province, for final painting before delivery.

The AG600, one of the world’s largest amphibious aircraft, underscores China’s growing capabilities in specialized aviation technology. Its development aligns with regional demand for advanced disaster-response and maritime patrol solutions, particularly in Asia’s coastal and island-dense areas.
