China's Shenzhou-20 astronauts are set to embark on their third extravehicular activity (EVA) aboard the Tiangong space station, marking another milestone in the nation's rapidly advancing space program. The China Manned Space Agency (CMSA) confirmed the mission on Thursday, highlighting the crew's readiness following rigorous preparations.
The trio—Chen Dong, Chen Zhongrui, and Wang Jie—have already completed two successful spacewalks in May and June. Their latest endeavor will utilize newly delivered spacesuits unpacked from the Tianzhou-9 cargo spacecraft, which arrived earlier this month. These upgraded suits are expected to enhance mobility and safety during complex orbital tasks.
Since their arrival at the station, the crew has managed critical operations, including environmental monitoring, equipment maintenance, and cargo transfers. The Tianzhou-9 delivery also replenished supplies, ensuring the astronauts remain in optimal physical and mental condition for their upcoming EVA.
