China Facilitates Cambodia-Thai Border Talks in Yunnan

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi hosted informal diplomatic talks between Cambodia and Thailand on Thursday, aiming to ease border tensions during a multilateral meeting in southwest China's Yunnan Province. The discussions occurred alongside the 10th Lancang-Mekong Cooperation Foreign Ministers' Meeting in Anning City, a location Wang noted symbolizes peace through its name.

Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister Prak Sokhonn and Thai Foreign Minister Maris Sangiampongsa joined Wang for tea talks described as 'timely' by the Chinese diplomat. Wang emphasized both Southeast Asian nations desire to resolve disputes through dialogue, stating: "The meeting here allows us to send a collective voice of peace."

The talks unfolded as Myanmar, Laos, and Vietnam participated in broader Lancang-Mekong Cooperation discussions focused on regional development. Wang reiterated China's commitment to supporting conflict resolution mechanisms while maintaining neutrality, framing the mediation as part of Beijing's broader regional stability efforts.
