In Xinglong County, crews mobilized 100 workers and 20 excavators to clear a vital section of National Highway 234 within 24 hours. 'This route is our lifeline – without it, essential goods can't reach townships,' explained a site supervisor during the operation.
The challenges multiplied in Chicheng County's mountainous terrain, where 15 rural bridges collapsed. Workers faced particularly urgent repairs at Lujiaogou Village's sole access bridge, home to dozens of elderly residents. 'We operated two excavators simultaneously to cut reconstruction time,' said Li Jialiang, local Party branch secretary. The structure reopened in eight hours – a feat that drew praise from relieved villagers.
As of Saturday morning, 961 road sections had resumed operations province-wide. The restoration drive underscores broader efforts to maintain economic stability and social welfare amid extreme weather events.
