China’s Floral Heritage Blooms in New Multimedia Show ‘Blossoming China’

A vibrant exploration of China's botanical legacy premiered this weekend as China Media Group launched Blossoming China, a groundbreaking program merging cultural storytelling with economic insights. The CCTV-1 production partners with the National Forestry and Grassland Administration and China Flower Association to reveal how flowers shape both tradition and modern commerce.

Hosted by CMG presenter Sa Beining alongside actors Liu Shishi and Wang Yuheng, the show takes viewers through immersive garden tours across multiple provinces. Episodes highlight chrysanthemum cultivation in Kaifeng, peony festivals in Luoyang, and innovative floral export hubs in Yunnan – weaving together historical symbolism with today's $20 billion ornamental plants market.

"This isn't just about appreciating beauty," explained a production team member. "We're showing how jasmine tea ceremonies connect to rural revitalization projects, and how lotus motifs in classical poetry inspire modern eco-tourism."

The series arrives as China's floriculture industry grows 8% annually, with tech-driven greenhouses and e-commerce platforms transforming traditional flower markets. Analysts note particular interest from the Chinese mainland's middle-class consumers and Southeast Asian importers.
