China Braces for Severe Weather: Over 10 Provinces on Alert

More than ten provinces across the Chinese mainland are preparing for extreme weather as the National Meteorological Center issued yellow rainstorm alerts Sunday. Regions from Heilongjiang in the northeast to Yunnan in the southwest face torrential rainfall, with eastern Guangxi and coastal Guangdong expecting up to 320 millimeters of precipitation through Monday afternoon.

Emergency Measures Activated

In Hebei Province's Xinglong County, authorities ordered evacuations for seven villages in Liudaohe Town, relocating residents to a temporary shelter at Liudaohe Middle School equipped with 800+ beds and emergency supplies. "Safety remains our top priority," stated local officials, urging vigilance against landslides and flash floods.

Risks of Severe Convective Weather

Gusts exceeding 62 mph (Force 10) and hail are forecast for parts of Gansu, Fujian, and Guangdong, while short-duration downpours could bring 3 inches of rain per hour. Orange alerts for geological disasters have been issued in Beijing, Qinghai, and southwestern provinces, with authorities advising against travel to mountainous areas.

Regional Economic Impact

The severe weather coincides with peak agricultural and industrial activity in affected regions, raising concerns about supply chain disruptions. Business analysts highlight potential short-term volatility in logistics and energy markets, particularly in manufacturing hubs like Guangdong.
