Rescue teams continue searching for nine missing individuals as the city transitions from emergency response to reconstruction.
Casualties and Infrastructure Damage
Intense rainfall between July 23 and 29 caused 44 fatalities and left 24,000 homes destroyed, primarily in northern mountainous districts. Over 300,000 residents across 40 townships were impacted, with Miyun and Huairou districts bearing the brunt of the devastation.
Emergency Response Progress
Satellite phones and rapid infrastructure repairs restored communication to all 190 isolated villages in hardest-hit areas. Water supply systems were fully repaired by Saturday morning, while temporary resettlement sites decreased by 669 locations as safety assessments enabled 90,000 evacuees to return home.
Ongoing Challenges
