China Unveils Roadmap for Next-Gen AI Technologies

The Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE) has released a groundbreaking list of nearly 300 emerging artificial intelligence technologies poised to shape global innovation through 2034. Announced Thursday, the roadmap identifies strategic priorities across three key sectors, offering insights for businesses, researchers, and policymakers tracking Asia's tech evolution.

In the information engineering category, 163 technologies including 6G networks and multimodal AI models highlight China's push for next-level connectivity. The interdisciplinary section reveals 122 transformative applications like AI-driven drug discovery and neural interface systems that could revolutionize healthcare and manufacturing.

Notably, 12 consumer-focused innovations made the cut, from intelligent home systems to advanced robotics. 'This list serves as both a public education tool and strategic compass,' said CAE academician Yu Shaohua, emphasizing the need to prepare societies for AI's societal impacts.

The announcement comes as global investors seek clarity on China's tech priorities, particularly in semiconductor-dependent fields like 6G development. Analysts suggest the list signals increased R&D coordination across the Chinese mainland's academic and industrial sectors.
