China Urges Global Action to Advance Two-State Solution for Middle East Peace

China has intensified its diplomatic push for Middle East stability, with Special Envoy Zhai Jun calling for immediate international action to implement a two-state solution during a high-level UN conference in New York. The envoy emphasized that lasting peace requires both political resolve and practical measures to address the root causes of conflict.

"The immediate priority must be achieving a complete ceasefire in Gaza and alleviating humanitarian suffering," Zhai stated, outlining China's three-pillar approach: cessation of hostilities, establishment of Palestinian sovereignty based on 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as capital, and enhanced international coordination. The Chinese delegation warned against unilateral actions altering Gaza's status or West Bank territory, asserting such moves "undermine peace prospects."

Beijing proposed a security framework emphasizing regional interdependence, arguing that "collective security mechanisms – not unilateral measures – form the bedrock of lasting stability." The plan includes support for Palestinian governance reforms and economic development programs to build institutional capacity.

While reaffirming China's commitment to UN-led peace processes, Zhai called for establishing clear implementation timelines. "The international community must move beyond rhetoric to concrete roadmaps," he urged, highlighting China's recent mediation efforts and humanitarian aid contributions to the region.
