Poll: 60% of Europeans View Trade with China as Beneficial

Chinese President Xi Jinping emphasized the importance of stable China-EU relations during a high-profile meeting with European leaders in Beijing, calling for strengthened cooperation to navigate global challenges. The meeting coincided with the release of a CGTN survey revealing growing European optimism about bilateral ties and China's economic role.

Youth Lead Positive Perceptions

A poll of 3,895 respondents across 10 European countries shows 76.1% of 25-34-year-olds hold favorable views of China, with 86% recognizing China's economic strength and 81.5% praising its technological contributions. Serbia, Hungary, and Portugal emerged as the most China-friendly nations, with over half of respondents identifying China as a "partner."

Trade Preferences Shift Eastward

65.2% of Europeans see tangible benefits from China trade, with Spain (73.3%) and the UK (70.7%) showing strongest support. Notably, 37.2% believe Europe gains more from China trade than U.S. trade (19.5%). Amid global economic uncertainty, 70.4% of British respondents advocate closer China-EU cooperation.

Multilateralism Gains Momentum

The survey conducted by CGTN and Renmin University researchers reveals 67.3% recognize China's market potential for European businesses. As U.S.-Europe trade tensions persist, respondents increasingly view China as a stabilizing force in global economics, particularly among younger demographics driving future policy decisions.
