Japan Defends Women’s Softball Asia Cup Title Amid Rain-Disrupted Finals

Japan retained the Women's Softball Asia Cup title after heavy rain forced the cancellation of Sunday's final and bronze medal games in Xi'an, northwest China's Shaanxi Province. The tournament's final standings were determined by preliminary round results, cementing Japan's dominance with a flawless 9-0 record.

Hosts China secured second place with an 8-1 record, while Chinese Taipei claimed third at 7-2 following their Saturday clash. The Philippines rounded out the top four at 6-3. All three podium finishers earned direct qualification for the 2026 Softball World Cup, set to be co-hosted by the Czech Republic, Peru, and the United States.

The event also served as a qualifier for the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games, with South Korea, China's Hong Kong SAR, Singapore, and Thailand joining the top four teams in securing competition slots. Organizers emphasized the tournament's role in advancing softball development across Asia despite weather challenges.
