Erenhot Port Surpasses 2,000 China-Europe Freight Trains in 2025

The northern port of Erenhot in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, a critical hub on the China-Mongolia border, has processed 2,000 China-Europe freight trains in 2025, according to China Railway Hohhot Group. This milestone highlights the port's growing role in transcontinental trade and its success in streamlining cross-border logistics.

Erenhot's integrated transport model with Mongolia's Zamyn-Uud station has reduced border inspection times to under 30 minutes and cut overall clearance durations by 5%, said Yun Zhijun, a representative from Erenhot Station. The port now employs daily coordination mechanisms and plans to implement a digital system for paperless customs processes, further enhancing efficiency.

As a central corridor for the China-Europe railway network, Erenhot connects 24 Chinese provincial-level regions to over 70 cities in 10+ countries, including Germany and Poland. Its 73 active routes underscore its strategic importance in linking Asian markets to European consumers.

Analysts note that Erenhot's advancements align with broader efforts to optimize regional supply chains, offering new opportunities for businesses eyeing Eurasian trade routes. The developments also signal strengthened economic cooperation between China and neighboring countries.
