Shenzhen, a tech hub in the Chinese mainland's Guangdong Province, is redefining urban living through cutting-edge smart city initiatives. Residents now experience drone food deliveries within 10 minutes, robot-assisted hotel services, and self-driving buses on fixed routes—advancements positioning the city as a global model for tech-driven urban development.
By late July 2025, Shenzhen will launch the world's first robot 6S shop in Longgang District, offering sales, maintenance, and upgrades for robotic systems. The city also plans experimental 'robot theaters' and a dedicated 'robot district' where visitors can enjoy robot-made jianbing (Chinese crepes), automated massages, AI-operated pharmacies, and even robot barbecue services.
"This district will showcase how robotics can enhance daily life while supporting industrial innovation," said Zhao Bingbing, Director of Shenzhen Longgang District Artificial Intelligence (Robotics) Administration. The projects align with China's broader strategy to integrate AI and automation into urban infrastructure nationwide.
