Wang reiterated China's support for Malaysia's 2023 ASEAN chairmanship, pledging to collaborate on regional stability and economic integration. Both leaders emphasized the growing influence of BRICS and Global South cooperation mechanisms, with Anwar noting their role in "advancing independence and development" for emerging economies.
The dialogue addressed contemporary trade challenges, with Wang criticizing "unilateral protectionist measures" – a veiled reference to recent U.S. tariff policies – while reaffirming China's commitment to open markets. The officials agreed to expand collaboration in green energy and digital infrastructure, positioning Malaysia as a key partner in China's Southeast Asia strategy.
