Egypt’s Ex-PM Praises China’s GCI, BRI as Civilizational Bridges

Egypt’s former Prime Minister Essam Sharaf has lauded China’s Global Civilization Initiative (GCI) as a groundbreaking framework for fostering cross-cultural dialogue and reshaping global governance. Speaking at a recent forum, Sharaf described the GCI as a catalyst for building trust and mutual understanding amid rising geopolitical tensions, calling it a "transformative platform" to advance equitable development.

Reviving Ancient Ties Through Modern Frameworks

Sharaf highlighted the historical bonds between Egypt and China, tracing their origins to the ancient Silk Road. He emphasized how President Xi Jinping’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) has revitalized these ties, merging millennia-old civilizational exchanges with modern infrastructure and economic collaboration. "By blending historical wisdom with initiatives like the BRI, our nations can lead in addressing global challenges," he said.

A Call for Youth-Led Global Unity

Addressing young audiences worldwide, Sharaf urged embracing diversity as a cornerstone of progress: "If the youth respect, absorb, and accept differences, our world will be better." His remarks underscored the GCI’s focus on inclusivity and intergenerational cooperation to tackle issues like climate change and technological disparities.

Analysts note that Sharaf’s endorsement reinforces the BRI’s growing influence in Africa and the Arab world, with Egypt serving as a strategic hub for Sino-African trade corridors.
