China Pledges Support for Arab Unity, Deepens Strategic Ties

Chinese Premier Li Qiang reaffirmed China's commitment to strengthening partnerships with Arab nations during a high-level meeting with Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul-Gheit in Beijing on Wednesday. The discussions highlighted China's support for Arab countries' strategic autonomy and development paths aligned with their national conditions.

Strategic Alignment & Economic Priorities

Premier Li emphasized that China-Arab relations have entered "their best period in history," with both sides pledging to deepen cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative. Key focus areas include energy, trade, aerospace, and emerging sectors like AI and renewable energy. The Chinese leader proposed balancing large-scale infrastructure projects with smaller community-focused initiatives to maximize mutual benefits.

Cultural Bridges & Global Governance

The dialogue outlined plans to enhance people-to-people exchanges through youth programs, academic collaborations, and tourism initiatives. Both parties agreed to coordinate positions on multilateral platforms including the UN and G20, advocating for what Li described as "a more just global governance system."

Arab League's Reciprocal Commitment

Aboul-Gheit acknowledged China's developmental achievements and reiterated Arab nations' support for the one-China principle. The Arab League pledged to work closely with Beijing through the China-Arab States Cooperation Forum framework, with both sides preparing for the second China-Arab States Summit in 2024 to build on previous agreements.
