The diplomats pledged to strengthen cooperation through multiple regional platforms, particularly supporting ASEAN's central role in East Asian affairs. 'China and Russia should jointly uphold an open, inclusive regional architecture,' Wang stated, positioning the two powers as stabilizers in Asia-Pacific geopolitics.
Lavrov echoed these sentiments, warning against 'attempts by certain major powers to sow division' in the region. The Russian foreign minister announced full support for China's upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organization presidency and promised enhanced collaboration within BRICS frameworks.
On nuclear non-proliferation, both ministers advocated for diplomatic solutions to the Iranian nuclear issue. Wang stressed that 'force cannot bring peace,' while Lavrov outlined Moscow's position on maintaining the international non-proliferation regime.
