The Chinese government has mobilized 150 million yuan ($20.97 million) from its central disaster relief fund to address severe flooding, typhoon damage, and geological hazards across six regions, officials announced Wednesday. The Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Emergency Management jointly allocated the emergency funds to Zhejiang, Fujian, Sichuan, Chongqing, the Xizang Autonomous Region, and Gansu.
Seasonal Challenges Intensify
With China now in its peak flood season, multiple provinces have faced consecutive disasters. Typhoon Danas – the fourth this year – recently battered southeastern coastal areas, triggering landslides and other secondary hazards. Authorities emphasized the urgency of stabilizing affected communities and preventing further casualties.
Funds Target Critical Needs
The allocation will prioritize search-and-rescue operations, temporary relocation of displaced residents, and secondary disaster prevention. A portion will also repair damaged homes and infrastructure. This move aligns with China's intensified disaster preparedness strategy as climate patterns grow more unpredictable.
