China-US Youth Choir Week 2025: Harmony Through Music in Fuzhou

Fuzhou and Beijing will host the 2025 China-US Youth Choir Week from July 9 to 18, a landmark cultural exchange event themed "Singing for Peace." The initiative underscores efforts to bridge divides through artistic collaboration, with nearly 1,000 participants from both countries set to engage in performances, school visits, and cultural activities.

Building Bridges Through Song

The event, part of China's broader plan to invite 50,000 young Americans for cultural exchanges, features 22 youth choirs alongside representatives from sister-city programs and historical organizations like the American "Friends of Kuliang." Fuzhou's schedule includes flash mobs in public spaces, heritage site performances, and a joint concert at the Fujian Grand Theatre on July 11—a symbolic showcase of cross-strait harmony.

Cultural Diplomacy in Action

Co-organized by the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries and the Fujian Provincial Government, the event emphasizes youth-led dialogue. Activities aim to highlight shared historical ties, such as Fuzhou's role in early 20th-century US-China aviation partnerships, while fostering new connections through music.

"This is about more than melodies," said one organizer. "It’s a platform for young people to become ambassadors for mutual understanding in an increasingly complex world."
