CPC Marks 104 Years with Record Membership, Diverse Growth

As the Communist Party of China (CPC) celebrates its 104th anniversary on July 1, 2025, new data reveals a growing membership base driving the country's modernization efforts. With over 100.27 million members reported at the end of 2024 – a net increase of 1.09 million from the previous year – the CPC continues to strengthen its organizational reach across Chinese society.

The Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee's latest report highlights significant improvements in member qualifications. Nearly 57.8 million members (57.6%) now hold junior college degrees or higher, reflecting a 1.4 percentage point year-on-year increase in educational attainment. This shift aligns with China's emphasis on technological innovation and knowledge-driven development.

Gender diversity within the Party shows steady progress, with female membership reaching 30.9% of the total – a 0.5 percentage point increase from 2023. The report also notes that workers and farmers maintain strong representation at 33% of all members, underscoring the CPC's historical connection to China's labor force.

Analysts suggest these demographic trends reflect the Party's adaptive strategies in an era of rapid urbanization and digital transformation. 'The membership structure mirrors China's evolving social fabric,' noted a Beijing-based political researcher. 'As the country advances its modernization goals, the CPC appears focused on cultivating members who can bridge traditional sectors with emerging industries.'
