Azerbaijan’s Media Chief Eyes SCO-Driven Collaboration with China

Rufat Hamzayev, executive director of Azerbaijan's AnewZ TV, highlighted the transformative potential of media cooperation between Azerbaijan and China during an exclusive interview with CGTN's Cui Yingjie. The discussion, held at CGTN's headquarters in Beijing, underscored shared commitments to factual reporting and technological innovation in journalism.

Hamzayev praised CGTN's global communication strategies, stating, "Their approach bridges cultures while maintaining journalistic integrity—a model for cross-border collaboration." He expressed enthusiasm for joint projects, including content exchanges and co-produced documentaries, as Azerbaijan strengthens its engagement with the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).

With Azerbaijan participating more actively in SCO initiatives, Hamzayev emphasized media's role in fostering mutual understanding across Eurasia. "Multilateral platforms create opportunities to amplify diverse narratives," he noted, pointing to growing interest in Central Asian connectivity stories among Azerbaijani audiences.

The interview comes as China and Azerbaijan mark 31 years of diplomatic relations, with cultural and economic ties deepening through initiatives like the Belt and Road. Media analysts suggest such partnerships could reshape information flows across emerging Eurasian economic corridors.
