China Kicks Off 34th National Energy-Saving Week in Qingdao

China launched its 34th National Energy Efficiency Promotion Week in Qingdao City, Shandong Province, on June 23, marking a renewed push to accelerate green transformation across industries. The annual event, themed around energy conservation and efficiency, will spotlight innovations in sustainable development through exhibitions, workshops, and public engagement campaigns until June 29.

Focus on Milestones and Innovations

This year’s program coincides with two key milestones: the fifth anniversary of China’s carbon peak and carbon neutrality pledges, and the 20th anniversary of its energy efficiency labeling system. Activities will highlight progress in industrial energy use, low-carbon building designs, and green transportation solutions. Digital technologies enabling smarter resource management will also take center stage.

A Legacy of Sustainability

Since its inception in 1991, the initiative has become a cornerstone of China’s environmental strategy, driving advancements in energy-saving policies and public awareness. Authorities emphasize its role in balancing economic growth with ecological priorities, particularly as the country advances its dual-carbon goals.

With over 200 on-site events planned nationwide, the week aims to foster collaboration between businesses, researchers, and citizens—a blueprint for Asia’s broader green transition.
