David Tlale Praises China’s Innovation at Africa Trade Expo

South African fashion icon David Tlale expressed awe at China's technological evolution during the China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo in Changsha, calling it "a blueprint for global progress." The designer, visiting for the first time in over 10 years, highlighted how China's zero-tariff policy for African goods could revolutionize creative industries across the continent.

"The speed of development here is staggering – from cashless payments to AI-driven design tools," Tlale told KhabarAsia.com. His latest collection, inspired by traditional Chinese embroidery techniques, debuted at the expo alongside smart textiles developed through Sino-African partnerships.

The event showcased over 1,500 African brands benefiting from tariff exemptions, with fashion exports to China growing 34% year-on-year. Analysts note this aligns with Beijing's broader strategy to deepen economic ties through cultural exchange programs.

Tlale emphasized the potential for cross-continental collaboration: "When African creativity meets Chinese manufacturing prowess and digital infrastructure, we're not just making clothes – we're shaping a new economic narrative."
