China Calls for Restraint Amid Rising Iran-Israel Tensions

China has urged all parties to exercise restraint as tensions between Iran and Israel threaten regional stability, emphasizing dialogue over military action to resolve disputes. The call comes amid growing international concern over escalating hostilities in the Middle East.

At a press briefing on Monday, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun expressed Beijing's apprehension about recent developments. "China is deeply concerned about Israel's attacks on Iran," Guo stated, warning that further escalation could destabilize neighboring countries and disrupt global energy markets.

The spokesperson stressed China's commitment to multilateral diplomacy, stating: "Force cannot bring lasting peace. Only through upholding common security and addressing legitimate concerns via dialogue can we achieve sustainable solutions." Guo confirmed China's ongoing communication with regional stakeholders to facilitate peace talks.

Analysts suggest Beijing's proactive stance aligns with its role as a permanent UN Security Council member and major trade partner to Middle Eastern nations. The region accounts for over 40% of China's crude oil imports, underscoring the economic imperative for stability.

This development follows weeks of heightened military posturing between Tehran and Jerusalem, with global markets closely monitoring potential impacts on shipping lanes and energy prices. China's intervention highlights Asia's growing influence in mediating international conflicts.
