China Stresses Steady Military Ties with U.S. Amid Dialogue Push

China has reaffirmed its commitment to fostering stable military relations with the United States during a Friday press briefing by Ministry of National Defense spokesperson Jiang Bin. The statement comes amid ongoing efforts to manage strategic differences between the two global powers.

"China consistently adheres to mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, and mutually beneficial cooperation in developing military-to-military relations," Jiang stated, emphasizing Beijing's approach to bilateral defense ties. The remarks follow recent high-level discussions aimed at reducing regional tensions.

While acknowledging the complexity of China-U.S. relations, Jiang called on Washington to "cease exaggerating the so-called 'China threat' narrative" and better align with Beijing's priorities. The defense spokesperson highlighted the need for both nations to "strengthen communication channels, properly handle disagreements, and build strategic trust" through sustained dialogue.

Analysts suggest this development signals China's willingness to maintain open military communication channels despite technological competition and regional security challenges. The commitment to "steady and sustainable" engagement aligns with recent economic coordination efforts between the two nations.
