Taklimakan Rally 2025 Concludes with Thrilling Finish in Xinjiang

The 2025 Taklimakan Rally, Asia's premier off-road motorsport event, concluded on Sunday in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region after a grueling 13-day journey spanning over 4,000 kilometers. This year's edition saw 128 teams navigate 10 challenging special stages across deserts, mountains, and riverbeds, testing both human endurance and mechanical limits.

CGTN Sports Scene reporter Shen Xiang described the rally as 'a true testament to Asia's growing prominence in adventure sports,' noting its evolution since 2005 into a 5,200-kilometer course attracting international competitors. The final 52-kilometer stage near Hotan city decided the podium positions, with veteran driver Liu Yangui securing his second career victory in the car category alongside navigator Chen Feng.

Motorcycle division honors went to Czech rider Martin Michek of the Hoto Factory Racing Team, who completed the course in 28 hours 31 minutes. The event's diverse terrain – ranging from the Taklimakan Desert's shifting dunes to Tian Shan mountain passes – highlighted Xinjiang's unique geography while showcasing sustainable tourism development in the region.

Organizers reported increased international participation this year, with teams from 15 countries and regions competing alongside Chinese crews. The rally's growing profile aligns with broader economic initiatives in western China, offering business professionals insights into infrastructure development and cross-border tourism opportunities.
