China, Pacific Nations Forge Rural Revitalization Ties in Shandong

Government officials, experts, and business leaders from China and nine Pacific Island Countries (PICs) gathered in Liaocheng City, Shandong Province, this week to strengthen collaboration on rural revitalization and climate resilience. The event marked the third anniversary of the China-Pacific Island Countries Climate Action Cooperation Center, established to address shared environmental challenges.

Over 120 participants explored strategies to boost sustainable agriculture, green infrastructure, and community-led development. 'This partnership reflects our mutual commitment to improving livelihoods while protecting ecosystems,' said a Shandong provincial representative during the roundtable discussions.

Key outcomes included plans to establish joint research programs and pilot projects focusing on climate-smart farming techniques. Participants emphasized the importance of knowledge exchange, with PIC delegates highlighting China's technological advancements in renewable energy integration for rural areas.

The forum concluded with renewed commitments to expand cultural exchanges and develop vocational training programs tailored to Pacific Island communities. These initiatives align with broader efforts to enhance South-South cooperation under China's Global Development Initiative framework.
