Ningbo Honored Again as National Civilized City; Ancient Baoguo Temple Showcases Architectural Marvels

Ningbo in East China has secured its seventh National Civilized City title since 2005, reaffirming its status as a cultural beacon. This coastal metropolis continues to captivate visitors with historical treasures like the 2,000-year-old Baoguo Temple – a masterpiece of ancient Chinese wooden architecture.

Foreign educator Renata Penchova recently explored the temple's iconic beamless hall, constructed entirely through intricate mortise-and-tenon joints. 'The precision without modern tools reveals the advanced engineering wisdom of China's ancestors,' she observed during her visit to the Tang-Song era complex at Lingshan Mountain's base.

Archaeologists highlight the site's preservation of rare construction techniques that have withstood earthquakes and weathering for centuries. As Ningbo celebrates this dual recognition of modern civic achievement and ancient cultural legacy, the temple stands as a living classroom for architects and historians studying sustainable design principles.
