China-Indonesia Partnership Boosts Global Economic Stability: Premier Li

Chinese Premier Li Qiang emphasized the stabilizing role of Sino-Indonesian collaboration in global economic recovery during his keynote address at Saturday's Indonesia-China Business Reception 2025 in Jakarta. The event brought together 800 business leaders and policymakers from both countries.

"Our nations' complementary economic structures create natural synergies," Li stated, highlighting Indonesia's position as China's second-largest ASEAN trading partner with bilateral trade reaching $130 billion in 2023. "As the world faces multiple uncertainties, our steady cooperation becomes an anchor for regional development."

The remarks come as both economies demonstrate resilience amid global challenges. China's Q2 GDP growth of 5.3% and Indonesia's stable 5.1% expansion position them among Asia's top-performing major economies. Analysts note their collaboration in nickel processing, renewable energy, and digital infrastructure could set benchmarks for South-South cooperation.

ASEAN Secretary-General Kao Kim Hourn, present at the reception, praised the partnership's multiplier effect: "When Asia's largest economy and third-most populous nation align priorities, it creates ripples across developing markets."

The event concluded with preliminary agreements on smart agriculture technology transfers and joint marine research initiatives, underscoring the relationship's evolving nature beyond traditional trade flows.
