Senior diplomats from China, Afghanistan, and Pakistan reaffirmed their commitment to advancing regional cooperation and stability during a high-level trilateral meeting in Beijing on Wednesday. The informal gathering, chaired by Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, brought together Pakistani Deputy Prime Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar and Afghan Acting Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi to discuss shared priorities across security, economic development, and diplomatic engagement.

Wang outlined seven key outcomes from the dialogue, emphasizing China's role as a stabilizing force in the region:

  • Enhancing political trust through respect for national sovereignty and development paths
  • Revitalizing the China-Afghanistan-Pakistan Foreign Ministers' Dialogue mechanism
  • Facilitating diplomatic exchanges, including potential ambassadorial appointments between Kabul and Islamabad
  • Extending Belt and Road infrastructure projects, particularly the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor into Afghanistan
  • Expanding trade partnerships to support Afghanistan's reconstruction
  • Strengthening counter-terrorism cooperation while opposing external interference
  • Promoting regional peace as a foundation for economic revitalization

The meeting signals growing momentum in cross-border collaboration, with China offering to facilitate improved Afghanistan-Pakistan relations. Wang stressed that regional stability remains critical for implementing major connectivity projects and addressing security challenges.
