Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi reiterated Beijing's support for dialogue between Pakistan and India to resolve longstanding disputes during a meeting with Pakistan's Deputy Prime Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Tuesday. Wang emphasized that peaceful negotiations align with both nations' long-term interests and are critical for fostering stability in South Asia.
"China welcomes and supports Pakistan and India to properly handle differences through dialogue, achieve a comprehensive ceasefire, and seek fundamental solutions," said Wang, who also serves on the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee. He described the approach as a "common expectation of the international community."
The talks come amid heightened global attention on South Asian geopolitics, particularly in Kashmir, where territorial claims remain a flashpoint. A recent image from the region showed children playing near a market in India-controlled Kashmir, underscoring the human dimension of tensions.
Analysts suggest China's role as a regional mediator could help de-escalate friction while creating opportunities for economic collaboration. Wang's remarks align with Beijing's broader diplomatic strategy to promote multilateral cooperation across Asia.
