China, France Pledge Joint Efforts for Open Global Trade at Economic Dialogue

Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng and French Economy Minister Eric Lombard co-chaired the 10th China-France High Level Economic and Financial Dialogue this week, vowing to strengthen collaboration in shaping multilateral trade frameworks. The meeting comes as both nations seek to stabilize economic ties amid global uncertainties.

He emphasized China's commitment to working with France to implement previous bilateral agreements reached during last year's 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations. 'We aim to create favorable conditions for trade and investment while injecting new vitality into our comprehensive strategic partnership,' stated the Chinese vice premier during the Paris meeting.

Lombard reaffirmed France's dedication to mutual cooperation, highlighting climate action and trade freedom as shared priorities. 'Our partnership extends beyond bilateral benefits — it contributes to global economic stability,' the French minister noted, pledging to enhance market access for Chinese enterprises.

The dialogue yielded tangible results including agreements on poultry meat imports and agricultural biotechnology cooperation. Both parties also discussed deepening collaboration in cosmetics, aviation, and pharmaceutical sectors — key growth areas that accounted for $82 billion in bilateral trade last year.

During his European visit, He engaged with French agricultural producers and business leaders, touring family farms and meeting representatives from major corporations like L'Oreal and Airbus. These exchanges underscored Beijing's focus on balancing high-tech partnerships with sustainable agricultural development.
