Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi reaffirmed China's commitment to deepening cooperation with Sudan during high-level talks in Beijing on Wednesday. Wang, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, emphasized the historical partnership between the two nations while meeting with Sudanese Foreign Minister Omer Siddiq.
"China values its longstanding friendship with Sudan," Wang stated, highlighting ongoing collaboration in infrastructure development, energy projects, and agricultural modernization under the Belt and Road Initiative framework. The discussions reportedly addressed economic revitalization plans for Sudan and regional stability efforts in Northeast Africa.
Analysts note the timing coincides with increased Chinese engagement in African peace initiatives and growing investment in Sudan's mining sector. The meeting concluded with agreements to enhance cultural exchanges and strengthen coordination at multilateral platforms including the United Nations.
