Xi Champions China-CELAC Partnership at Beijing Forum

President Xi Jinping emphasized China's commitment to strengthening ties with Latin America and the Caribbean during his address at the fourth ministerial meeting of the China-CELAC Forum in Beijing on Tuesday. The event brought together representatives from 25 CELAC member states to discuss enhanced economic collaboration and development strategies.

"Our cooperation framework prioritizes mutual benefits in trade, green energy, and digital infrastructure," Xi stated, underscoring plans to expand cross-regional investments and improve market access for agricultural and tech exports. The forum highlighted progress on 87 joint projects initiated since 2022, spanning renewable energy infrastructure and medical research.

Economic analysts noted China's $450 billion trade volume target with CELAC nations by 2025, building on recent agreements to streamline customs procedures and expand e-commerce channels. The talks also addressed cultural cooperation, including new student exchange programs and tourism initiatives to foster people-to-people connections.
