Chinese Runners Secure Three Relay Spots for Tokyo 2025 World Championships

Chinese athletes delivered a standout performance at the World Athletics Relays in Guangzhou, securing qualifications for three relay events at the 2025 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo. The weekend event in Guangdong Province saw national records shattered and strategic team adjustments paying off.

In the women's 4×400-meter relay, Liang Baotang, Mo Jiadie, Zhang Qining, and Liu Yinglan claimed third place with a record-breaking time of 03:13.39. Liang set a blistering pace in the first leg, clocking 44.91 seconds, while anchor runner Liu Yinglan overtook Jamaica's Roneisha McGregor in the final stretch to clinch the podium finish.

The women's 4×100-meter squad displayed resilience after substituting injured sprinter Liang Xiaojing with Zhu Junying. The revamped team—Zhu, Chen Yujie, Li Yuting, and Ge Manqi—blazed through the track with a season-best 43.03 seconds, securing their Tokyo berth.

China's men's 4×100-meter team also shone, with newcomers Shi Junhao and He Jinxian joining Zeng Keli and Wang Shengjie to post a season-best 38.03 seconds. Their seamless baton exchanges and sprinting prowess highlighted China's growing depth in track athletics.
