Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yvan Gil in Beijing on Monday, reaffirming bilateral cooperation amid evolving global dynamics. The talks underscored China's commitment to expanding partnerships with Global South nations while addressing shared economic priorities.
Wang, a senior diplomat and Political Bureau member of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, emphasized Beijing's opposition to external interference in Venezuela's internal affairs. 'China consistently adheres to the principle of non-interference while supporting nations' rights to pursue development paths suited to their national conditions,' he stated.
Gil described Venezuela as 'a reliable partner in Latin America' for Chinese initiatives, with discussions covering energy cooperation, infrastructure development, and technological exchanges. The ministers explored strategies to implement existing bilateral agreements under China's Belt and Road Initiative framework.
The dialogue comes as Chinese enterprises expand investments in Venezuela's mining and energy sectors. Both parties agreed to enhance coordination within multilateral platforms including the United Nations and the Forum of China and the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States.
