China-Zambia Lead UN AI Capacity-Building Talks

China and Zambia strengthened global artificial intelligence collaboration this week by co-hosting a high-level UN event focused on equitable technological development. Representatives from 70+ countries including Russia, France, and Indonesia joined tech leaders at the Group of Friends for International Cooperation on AI Capacity-Building session in New York.

The gathering, attended by organizations like the International Telecommunication Union, highlighted growing international interest in AI governance frameworks. A UN Digital Technologies Office spokesperson noted: "This dialogue bridges infrastructure gaps while ensuring emerging economies shape AI's responsible development." The event aligns with China's recent efforts to expand global South tech partnerships through multilateral mechanisms.
