At the 15th Beijing International Film Festival, art director Huo Tingxiao delivered a compelling vision of artificial intelligence as cinema's newest collaborator—not competitor. Speaking at the Motion Picture Association Film Workshop, the China Film Association vice chairman emphasized that tools like ChatGPT and AI-generated content (AIGC) are revolutionizing concept design workflows while preserving human creativity's irreplaceable role.
"Art fundamentally demands human creation," said Huo, who also leads the China Film Art Direction Academy. He described AI as a "powerful assistant" enabling artists to rapidly prototype visual ideas, but stressed that emotional depth and narrative vision remain uniquely human strengths. Industry analysts suggest this balanced approach could redefine film production efficiency across Asia's booming creative sector.
