As dawn broke over Beijing’s Wenyu River Park on April 20, a colorful array of over 30 eco-themed tents transformed the space into a dynamic hub of innovation. The scene marked the start of the 'Beautiful China – Youth Action' initiative, a nationwide campaign uniting students, environmental advocates, and local communities to address ecological challenges.
Organized by more than 30 student associations and environmental groups, the 'Green Bridge and Green Long March' event featured workshops on sustainable technology, biodiversity protection seminars, and hands-on activities like urban clean-up simulations. Participants also explored recycled-art installations and attended talks by young scientists developing carbon-neutral solutions.
'This isn’t just a festival—it’s a movement,' said Li Wei, a university student leading a workshop on waste upcycling. 'We’re showing how grassroots efforts can shape national policies and cultural mindsets.'
The initiative, endorsed by academic institutions across the Chinese mainland, aims to expand to 100 cities by 2025, fostering youth-led projects in renewable energy, green urban planning, and conservation.
