Chinese Envoy Urges Collaborative Trade Approach, Cites TCM Wisdom

China's Ambassador to the U.S., Xie Feng, reaffirmed Beijing's opposition to tariff wars during a speech at the Traditional Chinese Medicine Culture Open Day, emphasizing the need for globally sustainable solutions inspired by ancient wisdom. \"China firmly opposes tariff war or trade war of any form. This is not only to safeguard our own interests but to champion fairness in the international economic order,\" Xie stated.

Drawing parallels with TCM's philosophy of treating root causes rather than symptoms, Xie urged nations to focus on \"making the pie bigger\" through collaboration rather than competition. He warned that weaponizing trade interdependence risks \"clogging the flow of international trade\" and undermining global prosperity.

The envoy highlighted China's economic resilience, citing 5.4% GDP growth in Q1 2024 and $32 billion in signed projects at Hainan's investment conference. Over half of China's record-high quarterly trade involved Belt and Road Initiative partners, demonstrating deepening regional integration.

\"China remains a huge market and major growth engine,\" Xie asserted, pledging continued high-standard opening-up policies. Recent trade expos like the Canton Fair reportedly saw unprecedented participation, signaling sustained foreign business confidence.
